Medical/Surgical Telemetry Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
Job Overview
Seeking a dedicated Medical/Surgical Telemetry Nurse to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will be skilled in telemetry monitoring, capable of floating between units, and comfortable working night shifts.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care in accordance with established medical protocols and nursing standards.
- Monitor cardiac rhythm and interpret dysrhythmias, managing any necessary interventions.
- Administer medications and manage patient IV therapies, including central and peripheral line management.
- Provide pre and post-operative care, particularly with surgical recovery cases.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients and document care in the electronic health record.
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams and facilitate communication using SBAR reporting.
- Utilize telemetry and other advanced monitoring systems for patient evaluation.
- Participate in emergency response scenarios, including Rapid Response and Code teams.
- Support patients with diverse diagnoses, such as diabetes, COPD, heart failure, and post-surgical recovery.
Qualifications
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications are required.
- A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is necessary.
- Charge experience is preferred.
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to the start date for this specialty.
Shift Details
- 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
- Contract options for 36 or 48 hours per week, with consideration for longer contract durations.
- Every other weekend and holidays are included in the schedule.
- Floating to other MS units may be required, as well as travel to multiple locations within the region.

Care will encompass a variety of patient conditions, including but not limited to:
- Diabetes
- Dementia
- COVID-19
- Pneumonia
- COPD
- Sepsis
- GI Bleed
- Anemia
- Hip Fracture
- Heart Failure
- Urinary Tract Infections
- Renal Failure
- Cellulitis
Unit Systems
Proficient use of the following systems is necessary:
- Pyxis for medication management
- EPIC for documentation
Orientation
Newly hired staff will undergo a comprehensive 24-hour orientation program to ensure readiness for patient care responsibilities.
Dress Code
Scrubs should be navy blue or white.
Additional Notes
- A maximum of 7 days of RTO is allowed per contract.
- No blocked scheduling requests will be accepted unless it is for a weekend block (Friday – Monday).
- Contract staff may be integrated into emergency teams during catastrophic events or disasters.
