Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Med/Surg and Telemetry to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating excellent clinical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the healthcare team.

Job Details

  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15)
  • Contracts: 36 or 48 hours accepted; longer contracts available through 2027
  • Floating: Required to float to other MS units; travel to multiple locations may occur
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
  • Holidays: Must be available to work during holidays
  • Patient Ratios: 1:6
  • RTO Policy: A maximum of 7 days of RTO per contract; no blocked scheduling requests accepted

Required Skills and Certifications

  • BLS and NIHSS certification required
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted

Essential Skills

  • Med/Surg and Telemetry experience
  • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
  • Telemetry remote monitoring skills
  • Experience with rapid response and code teams
  • Wound care and management, including wound vacs
  • Administration of blood products and patient management for renal failure
  • Phlebotomy and IV therapy skills
  • Management of feeding tubes, colostomy, and ostomies
  • Proficiency in isolation precautions and PPE usage

Patient Diagnoses

The nurse will care for patients with a spectrum of diagnoses, including but not limited to:

  • Diabetes
  • Dementia
  • COVID-19
  • Pneumonia
  • COPD
  • Sepsis
  • Gastrointestinal bleed
  • Anemia
  • Hip fracture
  • Congestive heart failure (CHF)
  • Urinary tract infection (UTI)
  • Various surgical recovery cases
  • Hypertension
  • Cellulitis
  • Failure to thrive

Unit Systems

The following systems will be utilized for patient care and documentation:

  • Pyxis
  • EPIC
  • SBAR

Orientation

All new staff will complete a 24-hour orientation prior to beginning work on the unit.

Attire

Scrubs must be navy blue or white.

Special Requirements

  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty.
  • Availability to respond in emergency situations and mass casualty events is expected.
