Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a dynamic and challenging environment. The RN will provide care to patients in a specialized unit that focuses on family practice and forensic patient populations. This role involves collaboration with correctional officers to ensure the safety and well-being of incarcerated patients.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population, including patients with complex acute illnesses and chronic conditions.
  • Assist in managing adult med/surg patients under the Family Medicine service, with a focus on the geriatric population.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including correctional officers, to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in patient assessments and develop nursing care plans based on individual patient needs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using the EPIC system.
  • Ensure compliance with health regulations and hospital policies related to patient care, safety, and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license required.
  • Two years of experience in inpatient med/surg/tele nursing is required; forensic nursing experience is preferred.
  • Experience with IV starts is mandatory.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA only).
  • Familiarity with the EPIC electronic health record system is essential.
  • Ability to pass a telemetry competency test prior to starting the position.

Work Schedule

This position involves 12-hour shifts, including both day (0700 – 1930) and night (1900 – 0730) shifts, with rotations every other weekend and holidays as needed. D/N rotators will not be scheduled to switch between day and night shifts more than twice within a six-week period, unless exceptions are made at the employee’s request. Employees will receive 36 hours off between night shifts and subsequent day shifts for patient care roles.
