Registered Nurse (RN)

Shift Notes

This position involves a 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a guarantee of 36 hours per week. The RN may be required to float to different units within their skill level as necessary. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend, and there is no call obligation.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will assume responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients during their shift. Key responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care utilizing age-specific criteria. The RN will utilize scientific knowledge and clinical skills to make informed judgments and will also assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff, such as Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Patient Care Technicians (PCT), and Unit Secretaries.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant nursing role.
• Demonstrated attendance record and commitment to punctuality.
• Competence with cardiac medications including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Heparin, Cardene, Dobutamine, Lasix, and Bumex, along with knowledge of titration and application of these medications.
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and an understanding of heart rhythms.
• Strong critical thinking skills to recognize changes in patient status and intervene appropriately.
• Knowledge of signs and symptoms of stroke, with the ability to respond effectively to changes in patient status.
• Excellent communication skills necessary for patient care and collaboration with team members.

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Licensure

Active Ohio or Compact RN License is required.
