Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

Position Description:

The Labor and Delivery unit specializes in providing care for various patient cases, including deliveries, circulating c-sections, antepartum patients, and initial assessments of newborns.

General Information:

• Shift: Nights – 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Start Date: As soon as possible
• Weekend Requirement: Yes
• On Call Requirement: No
• Floating Requirement: No floating between units

Nurse/Patient Ratio:

• 1:1 for patients on Pitocin for induction or augmentation.
• 1:2 for cervical ripening (Cytotec or low dose Pitocin).
• 1:2-3 for antepartum patients (depending on acuity).
• 1:2-3 in triage.
• 1:1 for immediate postpartum care (first 2 hours post-birth for both mother and baby).

Dress Code: Navy blue or pink scrubs

Qualifications:

• BLS certification required.
• RN License in the state of employment or compact.
• Current certification required in one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM), with certification obtained within one month of passing the test.
• Current NRP certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required.
