Endoscopy/Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled Endoscopy/Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in pre-operative and post-operative care, especially in advanced GI cases, and possess knowledge in conscious sedation. This position offers a unique scheduling format to balance work and personal time.

Position Overview

• Unit Type: GI/Endoscopy
• Shift Length: 9 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Years of Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• WI or compact state RN license

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the Endoscopy Unit for a variety of gastrointestinal procedures.
• Perform pre-op and post-op assessments and documentation.
• Monitor patients during conscious sedation and provide necessary interventions.
• Assist with advanced gastroenterological procedures, including but not limited to EGD, Colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, Dilations, and management of food impactions.
• Participate in a rotation for weekend call as needed, providing coverage for conscious sedation procedures and advanced cases. Expected response time for call is 45-60 minutes.
• Stay late as necessary to ensure all cases are completed and patients are properly recovered.

Work Environment

• 10 procedure/OR rooms with a mix of outpatient and inpatient services.
• Average of 30 cases per day.
• Unit-specific orientation included for all new hires.
• Facility provides scrubs; no specific dress code required.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with conscious sedation and advanced GI procedures is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for collaborating with the healthcare team and providing excellent patient care.
