Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Overview

Join a dynamic 65-bed Emergency Department designed for optimal patient care. The unit includes a pod-based layout with dedicated areas for pediatric care and acute mental health. The department averages approximately 230 visits per day, providing a fast-paced and challenging environment where you can make a real difference.

Position Details

• Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours per week, primarily night shifts with weekend rotation.
• Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1:4.
• Floating Requirements: Required to the ED Observation wing and Acute Mental Health unit.
• Rotating Shifts: Rotating shifts available upon request, though the night position remains consistent.

Responsibilities

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse will:

• Perform comprehensive assessments and document patient care accurately.
• Administer IV medications and conduct phlebotomy as necessary.
• Monitor cardiac activity via EKG and conduct point of care testing.
• Provide critical education to patients and their families.
• Utilize critical thinking skills in high-pressure situations to ensure optimal patient care.
• Implement splinting techniques and manage various patient conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of Emergency Nursing experience is required.
• Skills: Proficient in general ED nursing competencies including assessment, documentation, and emergency interventions.
• Certifications:
  • AHA Certified BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • NRP and TNCC certifications are strongly preferred.
