Certified Nurse Aide – LTC

Shift Information

• Day Shift: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM
• Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• Night Shift: 11:15 PM – 7:15 AM

Minimum Experience

1 year of experience in a long-term care health facility is required.

Certifications/Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers, must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
• General certifications such as ACLS, BLS/BCLS, PALS, NRP, and ATT are preferred.
• Nursing certifications such as CPI, ENPC, RNFA, TNCC, AWHONN, STABLE, ASLS, and NBSTSA are beneficial.

Description

The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) will provide essential personal care services to assist patients with daily living activities and support their overall wellbeing. This role demands a patient and compassionate approach while ensuring adherence to healthcare protocols and patient rights.

Experience and Essential Knowledge

• A minimum of six (6) months of experience in a long-term care health facility, focusing on observing and reporting a variety of physical and mental symptoms.
• Knowledge of basic nursing skills, which includes but is not limited to taking vital signs, measuring output, and recognizing abnormal signs and symptoms.
• Familiarity with first aid, universal precautions, infection control, body mechanics, and principles of growth and development.
• Understanding the purpose and benefits of activities of daily living and restorative care.
• Ability to assist in treatment team activities and assess each patient’s age-specific needs.

Desirable Qualifications

• Knowledge of diverse cultures and the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
• Good observational skills and the capability to accurately recall and document events.
• A positive attitude and the ability to be patient and tolerant in challenging situations.

Physical Requirements

All employees must be physically capable of performing the essential duties of the position, which require a combination of physical, sensory, and mental abilities. This includes the capability to assist patients with personal care and mobility tasks.
