ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in a Level III Trauma Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care and a passion for providing exceptional patient care.

Unit Overview

The Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a 20-bed facility dedicated to the care of adult patients with complex health conditions. Our team handles a diverse range of diagnoses, including but not limited to:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal Bleed
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

Attending physicians and residents are present in the unit 24 hours a day to provide support and guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for critical and complex patients in the MICU.
• Effectively monitor and interpret telemetry data; must be able to read telemetry strips accurately.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
• Assist with procedures and interventions as required by patient needs.
• Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain licensure and certifications.
• Float to Medical/Surgical units as required, managing a patient load of up to 4 or 5 patients.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN License.
• 2+ years of continuous experience in a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) required.
• Telemetry competency is essential.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.
• Ability to work rotating shifts; including day and night rotations as necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a high acuity patient population effectively.
