ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking dedicated ICU Registered Nurses to join our team. This position involves working in a Level III Trauma Center’s Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and requires a commitment to patient care and teamwork.

Unit Description

The MICU consists of 20 beds and provides care for a diverse adult patient population with various conditions, including but not limited to:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal Bleed
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

Our team includes attendings and residents present in the unit 24 hours a day, ensuring comprehensive care for our patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill patients in the MICU.
• Monitor patient vital signs and interpret telemetry strips.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Float to medical/surgical units as required, managing up to 4 or 5 patients.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous MICU experience required.
• Experience in a similar Intensive Care setting preferred.
• Current active Massachusetts RN License.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
• Ability to read telemetry strips competently.

Work Environment

This role requires flexibility with rotating shifts between days and evenings. Night shifts will remain consistent. The RN-to-patient ratio is generally 1:2 or 1:1 for high-acuity patients and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other medical/surgical areas.
