Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse will serve as a whole house float across Intensive Care Units (ICU), Progressive Care Units (PCU), and Medical Surgical (MS) units. Candidates must be comfortable working across all three specialties and have experience with patient ratios of at least 1:5.

Scheduling Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift Details: 3×12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Charting: Experience with EPIC is required
• Floating: Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, potentially leading to 2-3 float assignments per shift.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or six weekend shifts within a six-week block
• Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday during the contract period

Qualifications

• Licensure: Must hold an active Virginia State or Compact RN license, or a pending license if from a non-compact state
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Required Clinical Skills

• Demonstrated experience in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and management of PICC and central lines
• Skills in trach management, non-invasive airway support (including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP), ventilator management, and care for chest tubes
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, continuous IV sedation, administration of emergency medications, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• At least two years of ICU experience in a large Level I or Level II facility

Unit Information

• ICU Average Patient Ratio: 2:1
• PCU Average Patient Ratio: 5:1
• MS Average Patient Ratio: 6:1 (may flex up to 7:1)

Additional Information

All requests for time off or special scheduling must be included at the time of submission. The facility reserves the right to call off one shift every two weeks.
