Sterile Processing Tech

Job Description

This position offers a temp-to-perm opportunity for a Sterile Processing Technician with experience in a Level 1 Trauma environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for the sterilization, decontamination, and assembly of surgical instruments and supplies.

Responsibilities

• Perform sterilization processes in compliance with industry standards.
• Decontaminate and assemble surgical instruments and equipment.
• Wrap and prepare items for sterilization.
• Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
• Ensure proper inventory management of sterile supplies.
• Float within the department and to sister facilities as needed.
• Participate in holiday and weekend rotations as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing.
• Level 1 Trauma experience is required.
• Experience with sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrapping in sterile processing.
• Preferred experience with various surgical cases including neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, transplant, and GYN.
• National Certification from CBSPD and/or HSPA is required.
• BLS certification is not required.

Additional Information

• Shifts: 5×8 hours from 15:00 to 23:30.
• Weekend rotation is mandatory.
• Guaranteed hours: The facility may cancel one shift every two weeks.
• Travelers should be prepared for potential emergency response assignments during hurricane season.
• Parker is provided for nights and weekends at a one-time fee.

Work Environment

This position is within a high-volume sterile processing environment of a teaching facility, recognized as a Magnet Hospital with over 800 staffed beds. The technician will be part of a dedicated team focused on delivering exceptional surgical support.
