Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg II

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with expertise in Med/Surg and Telemetry for a dynamic clinical environment. This position requires a commitment to providing exceptional patient care while managing a range of medical conditions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in accordance with established protocols.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, including remote telemetry monitoring.
• Utilize rapid response and code teams effectively.
• Provide care for patients with bowel obstructions, colostomy/ileostomy management, and feeding tube management.
• Administer and manage hemodialysis, blood products, and central/peripheral line care.
• Perform phlebotomy, PICC line management, and maintain IV access.
• Manage oxygen therapy, including BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula.
• Implement isolation precautions and administer wound care, including the use of wound vacs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• First-time travelers are welcome.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) is required.
• Charge nurse experience is preferred.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus.
• Experience in telemetry, post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, and post-myocardial infarction care is preferred.

Shift Information

Shifts are available primarily on nights, with typical hours from 18:45 to 07:15. A commitment to work either 36 or 48 hours per week is expected on a flexible basis.

Contract Details

• Contract durations range from 13 to 26 weeks.
• Requested time off is limited to a maximum of 7 days.
• Travelers may be required to float to other units as necessary.
• Weekend shifts are required every other week.

Patient Population

Patients may present with conditions such as diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, gastrointestinal bleeding, anemia, renal failure, and various post-surgical recoveries.

Orientation and Uniform

A 24-hour orientation will be provided. Dress code consists of navy blue or white scrubs.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must successfully pass EKG testing prior to starting. A commitment to participate in emergency response teams during catastrophic events is expected.
