Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Pediatrics

Shift: 3×12 Days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) with holiday rotation.

Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.

Job Description

The Registered Respiratory Therapist will provide specialized respiratory care for pediatric patients, primarily within a Level IV NICU setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating respiratory conditions in children while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory therapy services to pediatric patients, including assessment and monitoring of respiratory function.
  • Administer medications, perform intubations, and utilize advanced respiratory equipment as necessary.
  • Collaborate with pediatricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory health and home care practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records.

Qualifications

  • Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, with experience in NICU Level IV preferred. Pediatric ICU experience may be considered.
  • Certifications: Current RRT certification, Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
  • Certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) and a valid South Carolina Respiratory Care Provider (SC RCP) license are essential.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems, particularly Epic, is preferred.

  • Candidates must reside within a 60-mile radius for consideration; local candidates may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
  • All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application and are subject to approval based on unit needs.
  • During hurricane season (June – November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams.
