Registered Nurse (RN) – Behavioral Health
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Behavioral Health team. This position involves providing comprehensive care to patients with various mental health diagnoses in an inpatient locked unit. The RN will engage in crisis intervention, medication management, and holistic patient support throughout the treatment process.
Schedule
- Shift: Nights 18:45 – 07:15
- Weekend Schedule: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
- 36-48 hours per week available
- Block scheduling available
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Experience in managing patients with conditions such as:
- Substance use and chemical dependency
- Anxiety disorders
- Bipolar disorder
- Schizophrenia-spectrum disorders
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Self-injurious and suicidal behaviors
- Emergent chemical restraints and physical hold protocols
- Crisis interventions and de-escalation techniques
- Skills in medication administration including antianxiety medications, antidepressants, and antipsychotics
- Proficient in blood glucose monitoring and interpretation of lab values
- Ability to apply wound care and dressing changes
- Certification in MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) is required
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with congenital and developmental disorders
- Ability to manage profound impulse control issues
- Experience in starting and maintaining IVs
Unit Details
The Behavioral Health unit is organized across two floors, with staff rotating between different areas of acuity. Support is available from psych techs, nurse management staff, and a dedicated therapy team. Nurses are expected to collaborate effectively, utilizing tools such as ObservSmart for patient monitoring, and follow established medication and documentation protocols including EPIC.
Orientation
- Total orientation of 32 hours
- Hospital orientation during the first week; attendance at classes each day is required
Dress Code
Scrubs must be navy blue.

Candidate flexibility is essential, as floating between units may be required depending on patient care needs.
