Sterile Processing Tech

Position Overview

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized, decontaminated, and assembled for use in various medical procedures. This role is critical in maintaining infection control and patient safety within the surgical services environment.

Shift Details

• Schedule: 5×8 Hours, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
• Holiday Rotation Required
• Weekend Rotation May Be Required

Key Responsibilities

• Perform sterilization, decontamination, and assembly/wrapping of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and infection control policies and procedures.
• Float to various locations as required to meet facility needs.
• Participate in emergency response assignments as needed, especially during hurricane season.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing, with Level 1 Trauma experience required.
• Experience in sterilization, decontamination, assembly, and wrapping for a range of surgical cases, including but not limited to neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, transplant, and GYN.
• National Certifications: CBSPD (Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) and/or HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) required.
• BLS certification is not required.

Additional Information

• Local candidates within a 60-mile radius may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• All Requests for Time Off (RTO) must be provided at the time of submission. Requests will not be approved after the contract is signed and will be based on departmental needs.
• The facility reserves the right to call off one shift every two weeks.
• Parking is available for a one-time fee, applicable only for nights and weekends.
