Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical Surgical unit specializing in patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical-surgical nursing, working effectively within a collaborative healthcare environment.

Shift Information

• Type: Day/Night Rotate
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday

Unit Information

• Unit: 5SE – Medical Surgical
• Unit Type: Medical Surgical
• Bed Size: 47 beds
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Providing care for medical-surgical patients and surgical oncology patients.
• Collaborating with inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Demonstrating competency and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise and knowledge.
• Utilizing age and population-specific standards in clinical settings.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a Medical Surgical unit, preferably in a larger hospital with at least 200 beds or a Level 2 trauma center.
• Experience with surgical oncology patients is preferred but not required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Active Registered Nurse license in North Dakota or a compact state.
• Experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC.

Training and Orientation

• 1-day lead center training.
• 2 shifts (12 hours each) on the unit with a preceptor.

Floating and Equipment

This position may require floating to other medical-surgical units. The following equipment will be utilized:

• Electronic Medical Records (EMR) – EPIC
• AccuDose
• Bladder Scanners
• Pillips monitors
• Telemetry

Additional Information

Candidates must be willing to badge in and out at the facility. Scrubs should be navy blue.
