Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our dynamic and fast-paced cardiac and stroke unit. Ideal candidates will be comfortable managing a high volume of patients with varying degrees of acuity, particularly in pre and post-procedure settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for cardiac patients, including IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and managing cardiac drips.
• Administer pre and post-procedure care for patients undergoing procedures such as pacemaker and defibrillator implantations, as well as cardiac catheterizations.
• Manage stable patients on high flow oxygen and non-rebreather masks as needed.
• Monitor and treat patients with unstable angina, low-risk chest pain, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA, and TIA.
• Participate in patient admissions and discharges with assistance from a team lead.
• Adapt to the unit’s needs, including floating to other areas as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar fast-paced environment.
• Travelers should have experience in cardiac care; first-time travelers will be considered.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BCLS, and NIH.
• Proficiency in managing telemetry and administering cardiac medications such as Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone.
• Experience with patient turnover is beneficial; the unit typically handles 78 to 90 patients per week.

Scheduling and Requirements

• Target patient ratios of 1:5-6, with potential fluctuations based on unit needs.
• 36-hour workweeks available, with shifts of 12 hours on nights (18:45 – 07:15).
• Weekend commitments required: every other weekend and specific Monday and Friday shifts within a 6-week schedule.
• Self-scheduling will be implemented under the guidance of leadership to ensure adequate coverage.
• Unit orientation will require availability every day during the first week.

Dress Code

Uniforms consist of navy blue or white scrubs, along with Novant t-shirts. Jackets must be of the same material and color as the uniforms, and footwear must be professional without holes.

Additional Information

The unit currently accommodates COVID-positive patients and utilizes advanced respiratory support as required. Candidates must be comfortable working in this environment.
