Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg

Shift Notes: 36 hours per week
Weekend Requirements: Every Other Weekend
On Call Requirements: No Call

This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care in a challenging, fast-paced environment on a 60-bed Medical Surgical Unit with mixed acuity and diverse patient populations. The unit caters to post-surgical cases, various medical conditions, traumas, strokes, and inpatient hospice, presenting excellent learning opportunities and exposure to a wide range of patient needs.

Nursing practice on this unit is centered around patient care, emphasizing safety and quality outcomes. The ideal candidate will embody teamwork and positivity and will be supported in their growth and orientation as they advance in their nursing practice.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Clinical Expertise: Collaborates with the health care team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on comprehensive assessments of the patients’ physiological, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
• Knowledge: Engages in continual professional development through certification, advanced practice, higher education, and literature review.
• Leadership: Demonstrates leadership by sharing knowledge, acting as a clinical resource, and being a professional role model.
• Communication: Fosters effective communication through collegial relationships and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Productivity: Displays proficient time management and assists team members to enhance overall team performance.
• Performs additional duties as directed in alignment with competency-based objectives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of direct medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Experience in Level II or I trauma settings.
• Travel experience is preferred.

Certification Requirements

• BLS (AHA) certification required.

State License Requirements

• A valid and active nursing license for the state of Michigan is required.
