Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical – Neuro

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Medical Surgical – Neuro unit. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with preference given to candidates with neuro experience. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures and managing various neuro diagnoses.

Job Details

• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• Contract Length: 13-26 weeks accepted
• Shift: Night shifts, 3×12 hours (18:45 – 07:15)
• Weekend Requirements: 12-16 weekend shifts per contract, flexible with discussions during the onboarding process
• Float Requirement: Yes
• Orientation: 2 orientation shifts on the unit after hospital-based orientation

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for neuro surgical patients
• Monitor and assess patient conditions and vital signs
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care in electronic medical records
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Participate in the Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team, with potential response to catastrophic events, mass casualty situations, or disasters

Requirements

• Education: Valid RN license
• Certifications: Required – BCLS; Preferred – NIH
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a clinical nursing environment, with neuro experience preferred
• Skills: Knowledge of medication administration systems (Pyxis), effective communication (SBAR), and familiarity with electronic health records (EPIC)
